I look forward to this competition each year.
I love spending time with my fellow show choir judges: J.D. Smith, Ron Morgan, and Brian Nabors. Normally, Kevin Manley is a part of our quintet, but Kevin is taking the year off.
Tonight was middle school night. Tomorrow morning begins the high school competition with the finals commencing in the evening.
It is wonderful to see all the parents, and the regular show choir troops during the evening.
As has been the custom, BHS Show Choir Parents overextend themselves in hospitality. I know the audience experiences tremendous care and warmth, but we judges make out like happy bandits! I’ve learned that the New Year’s resolution of beginning to watch meal portions, calories, etc. must wait until the Beavercreek Midwest Show Choir Invitational is over. It’s foolish to even think about such things during this weekend.
Tomorrow, I will spend most of my day with soloists, assisted by two dear ladies, Shawnee Breitenstein, and Kelly Huntington Eveleth, both moms of my students, and sound man, Shawn Rifner. Being surrounded by this crew will be one of the best parts of my day!
Tonight, I returned home shortly before 10:30 PM, and had the most joyful, thrilling greeting from three fury pals! I thought they were going to knock me over.
I’ve downloaded photos from this evening, prepped for tomorrow, pottied the critters, and at 12:00 AM, I am actually heading to bed much earlier than I ever have before.
