When the Schuster Center for the Performing Arts was designed and built for its March 2003 opening, a unique, marvelous feature was installed.
In the dome of the auditorium, there is a constellation that keeps heads turned upward. The starfield is identical to what the sky looked like on Wednesday, December 16, 1903, the night before the hometown boys, Wilbur and Orville Wright, flew their first plane at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
I’ve always felt this was a brilliant, touching tip-of-the-hat to our community’s history.
