The gathering storm

There is always something a bit exciting during the anticipation of an approaching storm. As long as I can remember I have always been terrified of storms. I can remember my mother’s calmness as she would look out windows during storms are tornado warnings and the fear that shredded my nerves.

Out on the deck cool breeze blows between the trees and all the bushes in the backyard. The wind chimes are dancing frantically above the deck. All three dogs are gathered around waiting for me to finish my cereal before my first student arrives this morning and I can sense that they are aware that the storm is approaching.

This will be a long day of teaching from 10 in the morning until 930 at night with only one hour break. However, this will relieve me to have some free time on Friday. I am sure that our break will contain a nap.
